Why prescribe	Prescribed for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in adults and children,chronic eosinophilic leukemia or hypereosinophilic syndrome,chronic myelogenous leukemia, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms, systemic mastocytosis.
Recommended Dosage	Chronic myeloid leukaemia- Adult-Initial dose- 400 mg daily.The dose may increase to 600 mg daily or 400 mg twice a day as per condition. Child- 340 mg/m2 daily. Maximum Dose- 600 mg. Maximum dose- 800 mg. Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia- Adult- 600 mg daily with induction, consolidation or maintenance chemotherapy. Child- 340 mg/m2 daily. Maximum dose- 600 mg. Myelodysplastic disease- Adult- 400 mg daily. Unresectable, metastatic malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumours- Adult-Initial dose- 400 or daily.The dose may increase up to 400 mg twice a day. Mastocytosis- Adult- 400 mg daily. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans- Adult- 400 mg twice a day. Hypereosinophilic syndrome- Adult- 400 mg dailyThe dose may increase to 400 mg as per condition.
Directions of Usage	Should be taken by mouth, once or twice daily with a large glass of water, after a meal.
Route of administration	ORAL

Warnings and Precautions

Caution should be exercised in condition like Edema and Fluid Retention,Hematologic Toxicity,Congestive Heart Failure And Left Ventricular Dysfunction,Hepatotoxicity,Hemorrhage,Gastrointestinal Disorders,Hypereosinophilic Cardiac Toxicity,Dermatologic Toxicities,Hypothyroidism and Embryo-fetal Toxicity.
